Capitolo 1
Kyle e Bella hanno ridotto il loro tempo insieme, sin dalla mattinata sul divano di lui, quando lei si è presentata con il rapporto schiacciante e le foto dell'investigatore privato.
L'unico tempo che hanno trascorso insieme è stato quando hanno esaminato i piani per la ristrutturazione. Li stava uccidendo il fatto che non potessero toccarsi o mostrare alcun affetto l'uno verso l'altro. Ma era meglio così.
Kate ha preso bene la notizia. Era contenta, infatti, perché aveva iniziato a odiare suo padre, con il suo compleanno che è stata l'ultima goccia che ha fatto traboccare il vaso.
Bella e Kyle scrivevano o parlavano ogni notte, usando quei telefoni usa e getta. Hanno parlato principalmente di ciò che stava accadendo sul fronte della rottura. Reg aveva ricevuto una raccomandata.
Gli disse come Reg fosse effettivamente sollevato da questo, dal momento che anche lui voleva porre fine al loro matrimonio, ma stava aspettando che Kate si diplomasse. Non sapeva ancora delle foto, perché quello era il suo asso nella manica se le avesse dato qualche spinta indietro.
Disse a Kyle che si sarebbero incontrati quel sabato prossimo per dividere tutto, ma lui era già d'accordo che lei tenesse la casa, dato che era già stata pagata.
Il suo avvocato le ha detto di incontrarlo in un luogo pubblico. In questo modo si ridurrebbe la possibilità che si verifichi una brutta scena. Bella ha detto che Reg non è il tipo da mostrare qualcosa del genere. Spera che possano mettersi d'accordo su tutto quel sabato, poi portarlo in tribunale e la separazione diventi legale.
Kyle ha deciso di aspettare finché Bella e Reg non fossero riusciti a sistemare le cose, e lui avesse portato via tutte le sue cose da casa, a cui aveva diritto, o che voleva, che anche Bella fosse d'accordo. Ora lo abbracciava anche ogni volta che lo vedeva per la prima volta, e sempre quando uno dei due partiva per le rispettive case. Anche Bella, notò il cambiamento in lei, e ne fu molto felice. Poi quel venerdì si sono parlati al telefono, come avevano fatto di recente. Entrambi erano a letto e Bella era nervosa per l'incontro del giorno dopo con Reg. Si sarebbero incontrati in questo bar, vicino al centro della città, alle 13:00. Quel giorno aveva mandato un messaggio a Bella affermando che aveva alcuni documenti legali redatti, perché lei li esaminasse e anche il suo avvocato li esaminasse. Non era sicura che sarebbe riuscita a dormire, ma disse a Kyle che desiderava che lui fosse lì a tenerla in braccio in quel momento.
Circa 20 minuti dopo aver riattaccato, che erano ben passate le 23:00, ha ricevuto un messaggio da Bella. Lei gli ha chiesto se era sveglio e lui ha risposto di sì. Kyle si fece consegnare uno dei PODS per riporre i mobili e gli altri effetti personali delle due camere da letto. Bella aveva detto, però, che potrebbe comprare nuovi mobili per la camera da letto per la sua stanza. Kate ha lavorato a stretto contatto con Kyle, cercando di evitare i suoi 3 lavoratori. Erano già le 16:00, quando mandò a casa la troupe per il fine settimana. Kyle ha suggerito di cucinare hamburger a casa sua e andare a nuotare. Le ragazze acconsentirono, ma poi squillò il telefono di Bella. Dopo aver riattaccato, aveva un enorme sorriso sul viso. Ha fatto sapere loro che doveva correre nello studio dell'avvocato e firmare un documento che renderà legale la sua separazione. Poi sorrise seducente a Kyle. Poi disse loro di andare a nuotare e di preparare la cena, che non ci sarebbe voluto molto.
Kyle fece una doccia veloce e indossò il costume da bagno, poi uscì nell'area della piscina e preparò la tavola per mangiare più tardi. Quando ha finito, Kate si è avvicinata. Stava preparando gli hamburger per la cottura quando ha sentito un leggero stridio dal retro. Guardò fuori e vide Bella parlare con Kate. Bella indossava un involucro simile, coprendo quello che probabilmente era un costume da bagno abbinato, se così si può chiamare. Li vide abbracciarsi e poi baciarsi, e guardò Bella entrare in cucina, con in mano una borsa.
"Ciao piccola. Grandi notizie. Sono una donna libera. disse con un enorme sorriso.
“Cameron, il mio avvocato, ha fatto firmare i documenti ufficiali di separazione da un giudice. Tutto quello che dovevo fare era andare a firmarli. Spera di sistemare tutto prima di Natale, allora sono tutto tuo, se lo vuoi ancora. disse, con un sorriso malizioso.
“Sai che lo faccio piccola. Più di quanto le parole possano dirti.” lui ha risposto.
"Bene. Stanotte, finalmente, anche noi possiamo fare l'amore. Ho chiesto a Kate se poteva restare da Liz stanotte, quindi lo scoprirà.»

“Penso che tu abbia bisogno di entrare in piscina e rinfrescarti un po' però. Avremo tutta la notte per esplorare, divertirci e amarci l'un l'altro ", ha detto, mentre gli prendeva la mano e lo trascinava fuori dalla porta sul retro.
Una volta in piscina, nuotarono tutti un po', e fortunatamente per Kyle, la sua erezione diminuì un po'. Voleva che gli equipaggi avessero un fine settimana libero. Bella ha chiesto se Liz avesse già risposto con un messaggio. Kate ha detto di no. Dato che erano quasi le 20:00, ha detto che avrebbe provato a chiamarla. Si è scusata per fare la chiamata.
"E se non può restare la notte stanotte?" chiese Kyle.
"Ti dispiace se rimane qui, perché passerò la notte con te tesoro" Bella gli tubò all'orecchio.
"Mi sta bene. Può usare la stanza degli ospiti in fondo al corridoio rispetto a noi.» lui le ha detto.
Kate tornò fuori con uno sguardo abbattuto sul viso. Ha detto poi che Liz doveva andare con i suoi genitori a casa di sua nonna questo fine settimana. Ha poi detto che le dispiaceva per aver rovinato i piani che avrebbero potuto avere.
“Cazzate” disse Kyle, il che fece ridere entrambe le ragazze. “Non stai rovinando niente. Ma io e tua madre dormiremo insieme stanotte e faremo anche l'amore. Sei più che benvenuto a stare qui con noi. Voglio dire, è un dato di fatto, tesoro, che quando un uomo e una donna si preoccupano profondamente l'uno dell'altro, fanno l'amore, indipendentemente da chi c'è in casa. Avrai la camera degli ospiti, proprio in fondo al corridoio da noi. In effetti, mi sentirò meglio sapendo che sei qui, sano e salvo con noi. Ci tengo profondamente anche a te, gattina.
Kate sorrise e fu d'accordo, e disse che anche lei si sarebbe sentita meglio a stare qui con loro.
